YOGA for PREGNANCY, CHILDBIRTH and After............

for expectant mothers, baby and partners

This specialist branch of yoga was developed to help women to have a healthy pregnancy and to prepare for birth and parenthood in a yogic way.

Since the 1950’s psychologists and anthropologists have researched early childhood development. They have come to understand that sensory awareness begins in the womb and  that all humans retain “memory”  of their birth experiences. Many children and adults can recall the moment of birth clearly and external influences experienced in the womb. These imprints profoundly influence the development of our personalities, our later relationships and our expectations from life.

Western science has discovered that babies whose mothers have practised yoga during pregnancy, learn to differentiate between stress and relaxation. They are stimulated by sound and they develop faster after birth.

Regular use of modified yoga practices can help to alleviate the common ailments of pregnancy such as backache, acidic stomach, varicose veins, and provide a safe preparation for labour.

Women and couples that use yoga for labour have a better chance of a natural birth. With less medical intervention babies are born freely, at their own pace, which is important in building a society without violence.
